SALLIE FORD AND THE SOUND OUTSIDE  |  I first heard this band on OPB Sunday night while driving back from Portland. Its gritty and a throwback the swing era — love it. Could definitely dance to it!

Evergreens are everywhere — gargantuan and piney and so very, very pointy. The tree line has jags, edges. It looks as if it’s serrated.

WEEK TWO OF CSA | These baby artichokes were lovely to photograph. However, I have little desire to eat artichokes, and failed at following Anne Burrell’s recipe for braising them. They were bitter and tough. When will it be Brussels sprouts season? :-/ For more details, read my blog What’s in that Box?.
